The doors of Heavan are opened up on the first night of Ramadhan.

Not a single door is closed until the last night of Ramadhan.

Ramadan Thought - 2

"The first part of this month is (Allah's) mercy,

the middle part His forgiveness,

and the last part is salvation and release from the fire of Hell."

The Prophet Alaisalam said:

"Umrah in Ramadhan
is equal to a Hajj with me."

Ramadhan Thought - 30

It had been the practice of the Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, that he would not sleep in the night preceding the day of Eid-ul-fitr. This night has been named in a Hadith as the Night of Reward (Lailatul Jaiza).

The Almighty bestows his rewards on those who have spent the month of Ramadan abiding by the dictates of Shari'ah, and all their prayers in this night are accepted.

Therefore, it is desirable to perform nafl prayers in this night.
The Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, is reported to have said:

Whoever stands up (in worship) in the nights preceding the two Eids expecting rewards from his Lord, his heart will not die when the other hearts will die.

To benefit from this opportunity, one should perform as much worship in this night as he can, and should pray for all his needs and desires.

Ramadan Thought - 4

Hadhrat Ibn Umar (Allah be pleased with him) narrates, in a lengthy hadith, that Prophet Muhammad (AlaiSalam) said:

"Fasting is exclusively for Allah Ta'ala.

The thawaab [reward] of it (being limitless) no one knows besides Allah Ta'ala."

Ramadhan Thought - 5

For every Salaat performed during the nights of Ramadhaan
(that is Taraaweeh, etc.),

Allah Ta'ala records one and a half thousand good deeds for every sajdah (prostration).

Ramadhan Thought – 6

"Whoever gave a person,
who fasted, water to drink,
Allah shall give him a drink from my fountain where after he shall never again feel thirsty until he enters Jannah."

Help those without neither a drop to drink nor a crumb to eat.

Ramadhan Thought - 7

"Remember Me,

I shall remember you."


(Qur'an, surah al-Baqarah; 2:152)

Ramadhan Thought - 8

'Abdullah ibn Busr reported a man said,

"Messenger of Allah, the laws of Islam are too much for me. Tell me something I can cling to."

He said,

"Your tongue should remain moist with the remembrance of Allah."

Salman ibn Amir Dhabi related that the Prophet said:

Break your fast with dates,
or else with water,
for it is pure.


(Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi).

Ramadhan Thought - 10

"After the Fast has been broken, the heart should swing like a pendulum between fear and hope.

For one does not know if one's Fast will be accepted, so that one will find favour with God, or whether it will be rejected, leaving one among those He abhors.

This is how one should be at the end of any act of worship one performs."

Ramadhan Thought - 11

"When My servants ask thee concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them):

I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calleth on Me: let them also, with a will, listen to My call, and believe in Me: that they may walk in the right way."

(Quran 2:188)

Ramadhan Thought - 12

Ishraq Prayer is a nafl prayer which is performed about 12 minutes after sunrise.

It has only 2 rakaats but Hadiths are replete with the high merits of this prayer.

Abu Hurairah relates that our Prophet - upon whom be eternal Peace – has said that

"He who says Ishraq prayers without fail shall have his lesser sins forgiven even though they may be as numerous as foam specks on the surface of the sea."

(Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah)

Ramadhan Thought - 13

Abu Dharr (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

The Prophet (PBUH) said,

"In the morning, charity is due on every joint bone of the body of everyone of you.

Every utterance of Allah's Glorification (i.e., saying Subhan Allah) is an act of charity, and every utterance of His Praise (i.e., saying Al-hamdu lillah) is an act of charity and every utterance of declaration of His Greatness (i.e., saying La ilaha illAllah) is an act of charity; and enjoining M`aruf (good) is an act of charity, and forbidding Munkar (evil) is an act of charity, and two Rak`ah Duha prayers which one performs in the forenoon is equal to all this (in reward).''

Ramadhan Thought - 14

The voluntary prayer of Awabeen (6 rakahs) is prayed after the Maghrib prayer:

One Tradition states that performing of 6 rakaats without indulging in worldly affairs will derive Reward equivalent to 12 years Nafil prayers.

(Ref: Tirmizi Sharif).

The Tradition in Tibrani says the performer of 6 rakaats will have all his sins wiped away even though they may have been equal to the foam on the waves of the sea.

Another Hadith in Tirmizi Sharif says that the performer of 20 rakaats will have a house for himself in Paradise.

Ramadhan Thought - 15

Tahajud prayers are prayed in the darkness of night, after waking up.
The minimum rakahs are 2 and maximum is 12.

"Every night, when the last third of it remains, Allah, our Sustainer, the Blessed, the Superior, descends to the lowest heaven saying,


'Is there anyone to ask Me so that I may grant him his request? Is there anyone to invoke Me so that I may respond to his invocation? Is there anyone seeking My forgiveness so that I may forgive him?'"

Narrated Jarir bin 'Abdullah:

"Allah's Apostle said,

'Allah will not be merciful to those who are not merciful to mankind.'

17th Ramadhan is Battle of Badr

"And God did certainly assist you at Badr when you were weak ; be careful of your duty to God then, that you may give thanks."

Ramadhan Thought - 18

On the authority of Abu Malik al-Harith bin 'Asim al-Ash'ari, radiyallahu 'anhu, who said:

The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, said:

"Purification is half of iman (faith).

Saying 'Al-Hamdulillah' (Praise be to Allah) fills the scales.

Saying 'Subhanallah wa al-Hamdulillahi' (Exhalted be Allah and Praise be to Allah) fills the space between the heavens and the earth.

Salah (prayer) is a light.

Sadaqah (charity) is a proof.

Sabr (patience) is a shining glory.

The Qur'an is an argument either for you or against you.

Everybody goes out in the morning and sell themselves, thereby setting themselves free or destroying themselves."

It is related on the authority of Ayesha (RA) that


"The Apostle of Allah (saw) observed I'tikaf in the last ten days of Ramadhan, till the end of his life. After his death his wives continued with it."

'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) related that the Prophet (AlaiSalam) said:

Look for Lailat al-Qadr on an odd-numbered night during the last ten nights of Ramadan.

Reward for performing the five daily prayers:

The Prophet AlaiSalam said:

"There is no Muslim who, at the time of prayer, performs ablution properly, then performs the prayer in humility before Allah T'ala and perfects its pillars; except that will expiate all his past minor sins. This is for every prayer throughout his life."

'Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported:
I asked:

"O Messenger of Allah! If I realize Lailat-ul-Qadr (Night of Decree), what should I supplicate in it?''

He (PBUH) replied,
"You should supplicate: Allahumma innaka `afuwwun, tuhibbul-`afwa, fa`fu `anni

(O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness; so forgive me).''

Anas ibn Malik related that the Prophet AlaiSalam said:

When Lailat al-Qadr comes Gabriel descends with a company of angels who ask for blessings on everyone who is remembering Allah, whether they are sitting or standing.

Ramadhan Thought - 27

The Prophet AlaiSalam said:

"Whoever stands in (Prayer) in Lailatul-Qadr out of Eemaan and seeking reward then his previous sins are forgiven."

Ramadhan Thought - 28

Zakat al-fitr (fitrana) Ibn Abbaas reported,


"The Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) made Zakaah al-Fitr compulsory so that those who fasted may be purified of their idle deeds and shameful talk (committed during Ramadaan) and so that the poor may be fed. Whoever gives it before Salaah will have it accepted as Zakaah, while he who gives it after the Salaah has given Sadaqah."
